Dancing with a Percussion Band

Description

It's another birthday picture I did (that turned out to be another belated birthday gift since this took me probably about a couple of weeks to do and during those times I was working on it, I still had about a couple more birthday gifts to finish prior to that (plus there was the Bowser Day special I wanted to work on especially for this year)) but only this time, this picture is for my good friend :iconanimeluvzu: . :)
Last semester, there was one class I took in which the subject involved 'Computers and Music' (this story is not about the class that was very demanding so I am not going to talk about it this time. The workload from the class that I'm going to talk about here was a lot easier for me to handle and there was one homework assignment that I actually enjoyed (it gave me some inspiration for some other projects from the class that I did later on as the semester progressed and it helped me get through several assignments/projects from a couple of my other classes).) and I got to learn how to make music/compose songs by using one music software. The first in-class assignment that involved doing so, when I made my first song, the professor had us use loops of clips of music that were made from one of the gears that the software offered (although this wasn't exactly the very first time I composed a song. I used to have Mario Paint when I was a kid and I made very good use of the music making part of it. Then as I got older, I played around with Mario Paint Composer and I managed to make my versions of some of the Mario songs such as the Koopaseum theme from Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, Froggy's theme from Tetris Attack and a remix of the Player Select theme from Super Mario Bros 2 using the swan, Gameboy and flower combination that was used at the end of the song in Mario Paint that was brought to us by the mushroom (it's the combination that sounds like one saying 'cha-cha' if it's used at a certain pitch). I also managed to make my version of the title theme of the original Donkey Kong game. (But unfortunately, I don't think I have Mario Paint Composer or the files that contain those songs on my computer anymore)). The gear pretty much had music from guitars, drums and other percussion instruments so I went with the percussion instruments and took in a pair of bongos, timbales drums, a tambourine and a shaker to make one little song. Not too long after I made my first piece of music for the class, I came up with an idea to draw a band made by a family playing those percussion instruments (although the next class day, I added some drums to the song, I wanted to stick to the four percussion instruments I used to make the song originally since I was pretty pleased with how it turned out). Here in this picture, we got the mother on the timbales, the father on the bongos, the daughter on the tambourine and the son on the shaker (I have not come up with names for any of the family members). I then thought of another set of characters I made when I was in middle school that go by the names of Paul and Georgia, are a couple and came from one dream I had when I was in elementary school. I pretty much have only drawn them once prior to this picture and that was during the time I made them. I had some ideas involving those two for a while, but eventually, the thought of them had wandered off within my mind and I hadn't really thought of them much since until I came up with this idea to draw the percussion band. I wanted to draw Paul and Georgia dancing to the music that the band is playing outside in a nice community. When I pretty much began to draw this picture as my friend's birthday came around the corner, I thought of a background setting inspired by the Disney Boardwalk Resort (since I stayed there one time when my dad and his company won us a trip to Disney World and I thought it was a neat hotel), so I wanted to have this picture take place on a boardwalk with a building in the background that serves as a condominium complex (rather than a hotel) with some restaurants, shops and other places that serve food by the boardwalk that make up this quaint little community. Along with the family, Paul and Georgia, I ended up drawing lots of random people (including one of my original characters, Brenna) to make the setting more lively.
Hope you enjoy and to :iconanimeluvzu: , I hope you enjoy this birthday gift I made for you! :D
